In December 1992, Bishop John Francis formed the Christian organisation, Ruach Ministries in Brixton, South London. It became a registered charity in May 1995. Beginning with 18 people, it now has over 4,000 people in regular attendance. It is widely recognised as one of the largest and fastest growing churches in the UK with good standing in its local community and now, a considerable international reputation, particularly through Bishop Francis broadcast ministry, ‘Order My Steps’.
For several years Ruach Ministries rented or leased premises to house it’s fast-increasing numbers – Brixton Town Hall, the Brix Theatre, St Matthews Church, St Martins-In-The-Field School, Clapham Youth Centre amongst others. In December 1996, the charity purchased its own building a former warehouse situated at 122 Brixton Hill, which is its current location.
